About Anne

Meet Anne

I'm Jo-Anne Berry, known to most people as Anne. Here in Swansea, A.B Health & Fitness brings together the things I've spent my life on: hands-on therapy, teaching a room full of people, and the practical health care in between. One place, one person who knows the whole of it.

A path that started early, and kept growing

I've been drawn to health and the way the body works for as long as I can remember. After my A Levels I began training in healthcare, and over the years that early interest has grown into a broad path of study and hands-on experience — across wellbeing, holistic therapies, exercise, teaching and care.

Whatever you're looking for, it comes back to the same thing for me: helping people feel informed, looked after and comfortable enough to ask questions — and never under any pressure to decide before they're ready.

The foundations

Trained across therapies, teaching and care

I trained in naturopathy, nutrition, herbal medicine and massage, including seated massage and reflexology. When my children were younger I found a real love of teaching, qualified in adult education, and I've been studying ever since, most recently with the Open University.

My background also includes FREC training, and I still volunteer with the NHS as an Emergency Responder. All of it shapes the way I work now: practical, grounded and genuinely people-first.

One area especially close to my heart is gentle, sensitive massage support for people affected by cancer. It's a specialist area that not every therapist is trained to offer, and I believe it deserves particular care, dignity and understanding — always offered as comfort-focused support alongside a person's medical care, and never in place of it.

Exercise & fitness

Exercise, fitness and inclusive support

In 2023, after feeling for myself just how much regular exercise changed my own wellbeing, I stepped properly into the fitness world. I started with Tai Chi and kept going, gaining qualifications across a wide range of disciplines. I'm now registered with Yoga Alliance International as a 630-hour Yoga Teacher, and I teach plenty besides. My regular public classes currently run through Freedom Leisure, while private, one-off or requested sessions can be discussed by enquiry.

Fitness qualifications include:

  • Tai Chi
  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Personal Training
  • Exercise to Music
  • Gym Instructing
  • Aquacise
  • Kettlebells
  • Indoor Studio Cycling
  • Exercise Referral

I have a particular interest in supporting people who may need a more considered approach — including pre and postnatal clients, and people living with health conditions or disabilities. The aim is always exercise that feels achievable, welcoming and right for you.

Pregnancy & birth support

Pregnancy, birth and postnatal wellbeing

Pregnancy and birth have been a special interest of mine for a very long time. I've trained in massage and holistic therapies for pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period, completed antenatal teacher training in 2023, and later trained as a birth and postnatal doula and as a hypnobirthing practitioner.

I see this as gentle, practical reassurance: helping families feel more prepared and informed through one of life's biggest moments. It works hand in hand with your midwife and medical team, and is never a substitute for their care.

Practical care

Practical care: ear care and phlebotomy

Alongside my wellbeing work, I've also trained in Advanced Phlebotomy (2020) and, more recently, in Aural Care for ear wax removal (2026). These are offered on an enquiry-first basis, so the right details can be confirmed with you personally before anything is arranged.

Workshops & classes

Workshops, classes and everyday wellbeing

From time to time I also run relaxed wellbeing workshops and classes on the everyday things that help us feel our best — practical, friendly and easy to dip into.

Away from work

The everyday things matter too

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me with my family, walking the dog, making things, listening to music, and finally getting to travel a little more. Looking after yourself, through diet, exercise and relaxation, is a big part of enjoying life too.

No pressure, ever

Not sure what's right for you?

That's exactly what I'm here for. Send a message and we'll talk it through honestly, until you've got a clear sense of the right next step. No pressure to decide.
